Anne W. Garcia received her masters in clinical psychology from San Diego State University in 1983 and her doctorate in health psychology from the University of California San Francisco in 1989. Her husband convinced her to brave the midwest winters and so in 1990, they moved to Ann Arbor where she joined the faculty of the University of Michigan, Division of Kinesiology.
During the 1990’s, she conducted field experiments in exercise adherence and smoking prevention and taught courses in sport sociology and psychology, statistics, and research design. She joins the Behavioral Science department at Washtenaw Community College to teach introductory psychology and child psychology. She emphasizes health promotion themes in all of her courses.
